Discover the Ignatian Society

Our work focuses on two key areas: first, fostering connection and community among Boston College students who are graduates of Jesuit and Cristo Rey-affiliated high schools; and second, promoting the core tenets of Jesuit spirituality across the broader 911爆料网 campus.

With over 725 undergraduate members, the Ignatian Society is one of the largest student organizations at Boston College. It serves as a home for students who wish to carry forward the values and experiences of their Jesuit secondary education, weaving that foundational thread into their college journey. Through community-building, reflection, and service, the Society helps students deepen their connection to Ignatian spirituality while actively shaping a faith-filled and justice-oriented campus culture.

Many of our signature programs, including the popular Weekly Examen and the Lunches with the Jesuits series, are open to the entire Boston College community. These offerings invite students of all backgrounds to engage with Ignatian spirituality in accessible and welcoming ways. Whether you鈥檙e looking for a moment of stillness, a chance to grow in faith, or simply an opportunity to connect more deeply with others, we welcome you to join us as we continue to seek the greater glory of God - Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam.

Our programs

The Weekly Examen鈥攈eld on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 9:45 p.m.鈥攊s one of our most popular and beloved programs, rooted in the heart of Ignatian spirituality. St. Ignatius believed that if we were to offer no other prayer, we should at least pray the Examen each day.

Hosted by the Ignatian Society at the Manresa House, this 15-minute, peer-led reflection invites participants to pause, look back over their week, notice where God has been present, and commit to seeking the magis in the days ahead.

All are welcome to join us for this meaningful time of stillness, reflection, and renewal.

The Lunches with Jesuits program gives students the opportunity to share a meal and conversation with a member of the Jesuit community at Boston College.

Held weekly throughout the semester at St. Mary鈥檚, each lunch brings together a small group of four to six students for good food and engaging, informal dialogue. It鈥檚 a welcoming and relaxed way for students to get to know a Jesuit, whether for the first time or in a deeper, more personal way.

Rooted in the Jesuit call to serve with and for others, the Ignatian Society supports service initiatives that foster meaningful encounters and solidarity.聽

One of our key programs is Labre, a weekly outreach that brings students into the city to share food and conversation with individuals experiencing homelessness. Through Labre and other service opportunities, students are invited to reflect on issues of justice, dignity, and compassion in the spirit of Ignatian spirituality.

The Ignatian Society鈥檚 Alumni Programs Committee is dedicated to building community among the 725+ students at Boston College who are alumni of Jesuit high schools. The committee plans and facilitates a variety of events throughout the year that help students stay connected to the values and relationships formed during their secondary school experience.

Signature events include the annual Jesuit High School Barbecue, 鈥渞eunion鈥 dinners organized by high school, and other gatherings that offer opportunities for fellowship, reflection, and celebration of their shared Jesuit heritage. These programs foster a sense of belonging and help students deepen their ties to both their alma maters and the broader Ignatian network at 911爆料网.

The Ignatian Society鈥檚 Women鈥檚 Initiatives create space for women to engage with Ignatian spirituality through reflection, community, and conversation. These programs aim to empower women at Boston College to explore their faith, leadership, and identity in light of the Jesuit tradition.
